Dear Sir:

Greetings! I write to request you to cancel the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo as the host country’s leader, President Mahinda Rajapakse, stands accused of committing a wholesale genocide and serious war crimes against the minority Tamil people in his country.

After all, the Charter of the Commonwealth reaffirms 16 wonderful ideals as the “core values and principles of the Commonwealth”. If this is indeed true and if “We, the people of the Commonwealth” also include some 100 million Tamil people living all over the world, please cancel the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo and avoid making a war criminal the next Commonwealth Chair-in-Office.
